Bright colours, dynamic materials and a high-end sports Valjoux movement, make this timepiece a truly desirable item for speed enthusiasts looking for a watch with sporty chic and high performance. Inspired by the popular PR516 Tissot watch of the 1960s/70s with its distinctive holes in the bracelet, whose re-edition in 2004 met with great enthusiasm around the world, the new PRS516 offers a truly modern design with its combination of black, white, yellow and red, or chic silver and indigo blue. Square stylised counters recall the speedometers of sports cars, the whole encapsulated in a black PVD bezel with Tachymeter and Pulsometer. The driving imagery is again present in the cut-out steering wheel of the backcase allowing the gilded movement to be seen beneath.
For many the PR516 of the 1960s/1970s was a mythical watch and its re-edition in 2004 under the name PRS516 (Particularly Robust and Sporty) was met with great delight by watch enthusiasts young and old, many of the latter still remembering the early Tissot watch of their youth. Tissot comes with a high-end model to this line, the PRS516 Valjoux. This new watch keeps the same distinctive holes in the bracelet like the holes in a sports car steering wheel both in the steel bracelet (with a “T” in each of the first holes recalling the Tissot brand) and also in the leather brand. This steering wheel is also found in the cut-out of the back case revealing the gilded Valjoux movement beneath. Bold colour contrasts of red, yellow black and white and juxtapositions of black PVD, carbon fibre and brushed steel make this timepiece to be reckoned with. A second version with its powerful alternating of black and indigo blue on a silver dial with a brown leather strap also offers a striking combination of sporty chic. This play on contrasts is found on the dial itself with its mixture of carbon fibre or silver, the embossed luminova indices and the structured central areas of each of the distinctive stylised square counters with their sunray indices: 30 minute at 12 o’clock, little second hand at 9 o’clock, 12 hours at 6 o’clock and day and date at 3 o’clock. The dial is surrounded by a black PVD bezel with numbers clearly standing out for the Tachymeter from 400 to 60 km/h. True to its name, the watch is certainly robust with its quality 316L casing and water-resistance to 100 metres. TO BUY TISSOT SWISS WATCHES
